Our friend Michael James has knocked up a 50min podcast for Ibiza Spotlight, so if you’re missing the White Isle in these times of doom and snow, visit Ibiza Spotlight’s website HERE and download SPTL077
I’ve been loving all the tunes this girl has brought out, her latest EP ‘Love You So’ features a Lenzman remix and just proves they keep getting better and better.
Her bio reads ‘She is the industry’s best-kept secret. With no released material - not even a MySpace/Twitter page until now! She presents a new and exciting prospect for her major label. With a catalogue of raw material under her belt - one being the first song she wrote when she was 12, this talented young woman has the industries finest in a stir.’ And I totally agree!
Not only has this lady got her sounds finely tuned but I have to pay tribute to her (Or Atlantic’s) marketing plan - with three hit tunes released she’s given back to her fans with an eight track freebie. Her 2 - 4am mix tape can be downloaded from her website HERE
ROUND 2 - FIGHT! Well.. don’t fight, just listen and nod your heads appropriately! Big tracks from some of the best producers aroud. We’re talking slow grooving house to out and out soul infused get up and dance shit. DEEP SOUL SHIT. Hope you all enjoy, it’s brought to you by yours truly and I like to think that it still encompasses the philosophy that In At The Deep End sticks to. No nonsense good music!
Acoustic bliss. Loved this song for years. Funnily enough, promoting a track for a client also called ‘Oxygen’ prompted this memory. Great song- simple and strong. Raw.
A new era is upon us- Rising Digital now have a podcast and the first one is from me :) Mixed with a pinch of spice, a sprinkle of soul and a garnish of groove. Baked at 125bpm by Bevan.
Criteria for inclusion in the podcast was simple. Any track must have excess amounts of the following:
1) Groove
2) Soul
3) Progression
..or all of the above!
When heard the track will also normally have stopped you in your tracks and made you ask whoever the source these important words.. “Who the hell is this?!”
07/ Phillip Ort - Paris Nights (Inxec & Matt Tolfrey Remix)
08/ David Squillace & Guti - That Ginger Ponytail (Kerri Chandler Remix)
09/ Luca C, Brigante feat. Ali Love - Morals (Clockwork Remix)
10/ Deniz Kurtel - The L Word feat. Jada (Guy Gerber’s Countryside Remix)
The Black Seeds - The Answer
Upstrokes and reggae head nodding flavours, yummy! As one half of In At The Deep End travels to lands afar in search of melodic soul filled music, I thought I’d beat her to it and post this delightful track from a country who’s middle name is ‘ace bands’ they produce so many- New Zealand!
Kiwi/Reggae/Indie. It’s great. They have silly amounts of other audio delights too, check out their Bandpage on FACEBOOK. You won’t regret it!
East Park Reggae Collective - Build a Wall
This is where it all began for IATDE. Our FIRST EVER POST was by this truly remarkable Leeds based band and even helped inspire the creation of the blog. The band have consistently optimised ‘the sound of summer’ for us and strike the kind of balance between melody, groove and soul that we aspire to post.
Last summer it wouldn’t be exaggerating to say that every festival we went to or local gig we happened upon we ran into East Park Reggae Collective. It was ace. As a trademark tune you can normally count on this getting dropped too. Also ace. It’s the kind of song that epitomises their unique, stand-out style.. weeks after hearing it you’ll find yourself humming it in the shower.. surely the sign of commendably well written song!
‘Build a wall’ features on the band’s NEW ALBUM on First Word Records, launched THIS SUNDAY (2nd Oct) at Leeds’ Hifi Club. With free entry on the cards there really is no excuse not to get involved.
In the meantime for you impatient lot, their previous album ‘Front Line’, is available on iTunes- go BUY IT. It’s good. Even if you don’t want the whole album, you can get one track for 79p.. that’s less than the price of 5 modern Freddo’s. Bargain! Roll on Sunday.
We'll be posting old stuff, new stuff, and of course... unique stuff. From dubby beats to soothing vocals, sign up here for your daily dose of sunshine.
